Introduction

Who we are
I’m Tyler Jurelle, the sole proprietor of Jurelle Enterprises  LLC (“we”, “our”, “us”). This website (tylerjurelle.com) is my personal site, but it operates under the legal umbrella of the LLC.

How we communicate
All email correspondence (contact‑form replies, newsletters, support messages) is handled through ProtonMail. Proton’s zero‑access encryption protects the content of those messages while they are in transit and at rest.

1. Information I Collect

  • Personal identifiers – Name, email address, phone number (if you voluntarily provide them). Used to respond to inquiries, send optional newsletters, or fulfill service requests.
  • Technical data – IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, referral URL, pages visited, timestamps. Used to improve site performance, diagnose technical issues, and analyze traffic trends.
  • Cookies & similar technologies – Session cookies, Plausible analytics cookies, consent cookie for AdSense, optional Bing‑related cookies. Used to remember preferences, keep sessions alive, and gather aggregate usage statistics.
  • Content you submit – Comments, form entries, uploaded files, media you embed. Used to display your contributions on the site and, where applicable, to process requests.
  • Proton‑related data – Email headers, delivery status, encrypted message bodies (stored only on Proton’s servers). Used to ensure reliable communication and retain a record of correspondence for legal compliance.
  • Google services data – Search‑Console crawl data (URL, impressions, clicks) and AdSense impression & click data (anonymous IDs). Used to monitor site indexing, improve SEO, and serve contextual ads only inside individual blog posts.
  • Bing Webmaster Tools data – Crawl stats, indexing reports, keyword performance (provided by Microsoft). Used to track how Bing discovers and ranks the site and to improve search visibility.

No financial information, health data, or other special‑category data is collected.

2. How I Use Your Information

  1. Communication – Reply to contact‑form submissions, answer support questions, and send optional newsletters (only if you opt‑in).
  2. Service provision – Store email logs on Proton for auditability and to meet data‑retention requirements.
  3. Site improvement – Analyze aggregated traffic data from Plausible, Google Search Console, and Bing Webmaster Tools to understand which pages are most useful and to fix bugs.
  4. Advertising – Serve Google AdSense ads only within individual blog posts. Only anonymous impression/click data is collected for billing and reporting.
  5. Legal compliance – Retain records for the period required by applicable law (typically six months to two years).

3. Data Retention

  • Proton‑hosted emails are kept for 90 days after the last interaction and then automatically deleted from Proton’s servers.
  • Plausible analytics data is retained for 12 months in an aggregated, IP‑anonymised form.
  • Google Search Console data is retained by Google according to its own policies; I do not store raw data locally.
  • Google AdSense data is retained by Google for billing and reporting; I receive only aggregated performance reports.
  • Bing Webmaster Tools data is retained by Microsoft according to its policies; I do not store raw data locally.
  • User‑submitted content (comments, uploads, newsletter sign‑ups) remains on the site until you request removal or I delete it during routine moderation.

4. Sharing & Disclosure

do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. I may disclose data only in limited circumstances:

  • Legal requirements – To comply with a subpoena, court order, or other lawful process.
  • Protection of rights – To defend against claims or protect the security of the site, its users, or my business.

All disclosures are made in accordance with applicable law and only to the extent necessary.

5. Cookies & Tracking

  • Essential/session cookies – Maintain session state and remember basic preferences; set by my own server.
  • Plausible analytics cookies – Collect anonymised page‑view counts, referrers, and device type; provided by Plausible (EU‑based, GDPR‑compliant).
  • AdSense consent cookie – Records whether you have consented to see ads inside blog posts; set by Google (non‑personalised, no personally identifiable information stored).
  • Bing‑related cookies – Optional tracking for Bing Webmaster Tools insights; set by Microsoft and used only for aggregated reporting.

No third‑party advertising or retargeting cookies beyond the standard AdSense consent mechanism are used.

6. Blog and User Interactions

Comments

When you leave a comment on a blog post, I collect the comment text, your displayed name (or pseudonym), email address (optional, used only for moderation notifications), and the timestamp.

  • Purpose: To display the comment publicly, allow me to moderate spam, and optionally notify you of replies.
  • Retention: Comments stay on the site indefinitely unless you request removal or I delete them during routine moderation.
  • Visibility: Comments are publicly viewable on the associated blog post. No personal data from comments is shared with advertisers or third‑party analytics services.

Newsletter Sign‑Up

If you choose to subscribe to my newsletter, you provide an email address (and optionally your name).

  • What’s collected: Email address, name (only if you supply it), and the subscription timestamp.
  • Why it’s collected: To send you periodic updates, blog highlights, and other content you have explicitly opted to receive.
  • Retention: Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. After you unsubscribe, the address is removed from the mailing list within 30 days.
  • Third‑party processing: The newsletter is delivered via a Proton‑based mailing service that respects end‑to‑end encryption and does not share your data with advertisers.

Affiliate / Commission Links

Some blog posts contain external links to endorsed products or services. These links may be:

  • Embedded directly in the article text, or
  • Displayed through an interactive third‑party widget (e.g., product carousel, price‑comparison box).

When you click such a link and subsequently make a purchase, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

  • Data collected: Clicking an affiliate link does not transmit personal data to me; the third‑party widget may set its own cookies for tracking purposes, subject to that provider’s privacy policy.
  • Disclosure: A brief notice appears next to affiliate content, and a comprehensive explanation is available on my Disclaimer page.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data I hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention limits).
  • Object to processing or request restriction of processing.

To exercise any of these rights, please email me at contact@tylerjurelle.com (the address is hosted on ProtonMail).

8. Security

  • Transport security: All connections use HTTPS (TLS 1.3).
  • Email security: Messages stored on ProtonMail benefit from end‑to‑end encryption and Proton’s strict zero‑access policy.
  • Data storage: Backups of the website are performed on encrypted storage.
  • Analytics privacy: Plausible does not log full IP addresses; Google Search Console, AdSense, and Bing Webmaster Tools data remain within each provider’s secure infrastructure.

9. International Data Transfers

  • ProtonMail stores data on servers located in Switzerland, a country with strong data‑protection laws.
  • Plausible runs its services on EU‑based servers, ensuring GDPR‑level safeguards.
  • Google and Microsoft may transfer data internationally in accordance with their respective privacy policies and the EU‑US Data Privacy Framework.

10. Changes to This Policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time. When I do, I will:

  1. Post the revised version on this page.
  2. Update the “Effective Date” at the top.
  3. Notify you via the email address you previously provided (if applicable) or by a prominent banner on the site.

Please review this policy periodically for any changes.
